Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Malaya Zemlya (ranked 5316 p4p, 3982 weight class) and Noah Ortega (ranked 546 p4p, 465 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Malaya Zemlya!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Noah Ortega!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, William Peck and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ortega fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Zemlya manages to avoid it.
Zemlya throwing a counter right hand but Ortega manages to avoid it.
Ortega misses with a shot to the body
and Zemlya counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Ortega looks to score with a jab to the body but Zemlya is just out of range.

A quick step to the side and Zemlya tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Zemlya swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Zemlya throws a nice looking combination but Ortega bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

enabling Zemlya to counter with a crisp jab.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Ortega shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Zemlya but Zemlya pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Ortega scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Zemlya doesn't seem bothered though.

and Ortega counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Ortega is looking to pass into half guard but Zemlya pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Zemlya is in guard.
Ortega tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Ortega is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Zemlya is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ortega can do anything to dispel that myth.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Ortega is looking for a sweep.
Ortega felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Zemlya avoids the strikes from the bottom by Ortega.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup.
Ortega is looking to regain half guard here but Zemlya keeps moving and retains side control.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Zemlya is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

Ortega cracks Zemlya with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Zemlya uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

Malaya Zemlya has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Noah Ortega.

and Zemlya connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

After the fight, Malaya Zemlya was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
