PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Juan Carlos (ranked 5314 p4p, 25119 weight class) and Ben Hornby (ranked 486 p4p, 619 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Juan Carlos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 1, fighting out of London, Ben Hornby!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Konstantin Menshow and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hornby tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Carlos swivels and escapes.
Carlos drops down looking for a counter takedown but Hornby sprawls and moves away.
Carlos takes a swing at Hornby's ribcage but misses.
Hornby on the wrong end of a nice jab.

Carlos shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Carlos connects with a nice short shot to Hornby's temple.
Hornby pushes Carlos off looking to stand but Carlos dives back in and keeps control.
Hornby tries to roll over but Carlos keeps him under control.

Carlos closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Hornby tries to pull guard but Carlos won't allow it.
Hornby gets underhooks to prevent Carlos's takedown attempt.
Carlos goes for a takedown attempt but Hornby pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Carlos shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Carlos was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Carlos takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Carlos jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Hornby manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Hornby is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Carlos is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Carlos lands a couple of good shots and Hornby has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
