Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Marco Caruso (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marlon Mattias (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Marco Caruso!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Marlon Mattias!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Paulo Santos and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Caruso shoots in and drives through. Mattias sprawls well.

Mattias bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Mattias lands a decent elbow from side control.
Caruso is trying to improve his position.
Caruso manages to get back to half guard.
Caruso is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Mattias's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Mattias's back!
Mattias turns into Caruso and is now in his guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Caruso manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Mattias manages to get himself to full guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Caruso accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Mattias can do anything to dispel that myth.

Caruso drops back, looking for a kneebar! Mattias looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Mattias looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Mattias!
Caruso is not content to let Mattias control the position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Caruso has hold of Mattias's hands but Mattias slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Caruso tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Mattias tries to advance to mount but can't.

Caruso is staying active underneath Mattias, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Mattias is looking for a kimura but Caruso is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Mattias to get the leverage.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Caruso is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Mattias has gone for a leg lock! Caruso slips out almost immediately though and dives into Mattias's guard.

Despite being in the dominant position, Marlon Mattias just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Mattias shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Caruso's guard.

Caruso is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Mattias can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

I would just about give that final round to Marlon Mattias.
Well Mattias has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
