Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Cracklin Jack !
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Benji Stevens!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Chad Campbell and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jack cracks Stevens with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the ropes.
Stevens misses with a hook
and Jack counters with a lovely shot to the body.
A jab from Stevens finds it's way through Jack 's defenses.
Stevens fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Jack .
Jack missing with a left hand there. Stevens was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Stevens throws a counter combo.
Jack throws a head kick but Stevens moves out of range.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Stevens! But no joy.
A telegraphed right hand from Stevens misses the target.
Jack wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Jack takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Stevens lands a nice leg kick that just misses Jack 's sensitive parts.
Stevens getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Stevens lands the left hand.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Jack throws a sloppy head kick
and Stevens counters with a two punch combo.

Stevens scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.

Stevens is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Jack .
Stevens lands a nice hook to Jack 's body. Jack takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Jack walks into a jab.
Stevens has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.
Stevens throws a hook to the side of Jack 's head but Jack sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
A counter left hand to the body from Jack misses its target.
Jack uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Stevens.
Jack moves out of range as Stevens throws a body kick.
Stevens on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Stevens throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Jack sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Jack misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Stevens looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Stevens sizes up Jack with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

and Stevens connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Stevens misses with a few strikes there.
A telegraphed right hand from Stevens misses the target.

Jack pushes Stevens up against the ropes in a clinch.
Jack wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Stevens tries to work over Jack 's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Stevens.
Still in the clinch, Stevens scores with a nice short uppercut.
Stevens is trying to break the clinch but Jack has him pressed against the ropes.
Jack wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Stevens has had enough of the clinch but Jack keeps him there for the moment.
Jack fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Jack 's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Benji Stevens dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Stevens connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Jack momentarily.
Jab, jab by Stevens - just one landing.
Stevens walks into a left hand.
Stevens jabs at Jack 's body.
Stevens scores with a leg kick.
Jack needs to keep his hands up - Stevens had a free shot at his head there.

Stevens lands with a right, followed by a left to the temple and Jack goes down! The ref sends Stevens to a neutral corner so he can begin the count. 3,4,5,6 and Jack is back to his feet. He seems a little groggy but the referee thinks he's OK to continue, so we're back to the action!

It looks like Cracklin Jack has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Stevens lands a jab to the nose.
Oh Jack is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Stevens throws a lazy right hand but Jack sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Stevens throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Jack seems to have got his legs back now.
Stevens swats away the attempt to clinch by Jack .

Stevens lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Stevens cracks a nice hook into Jack 's ribs.
Jack on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Jack ducks under a wild hook from Stevens.
Jack goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Stevens missing with a left hand there. Jack was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Benji Stevens seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Stevens throws a hook but Jack blocks it.
Stevens lands a jab to Jack 's midsection.
Jack misses with a head kick.
Jack has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Jack there as he acknowledges the shot.
Jack takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jack pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Stevens scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Stevens misses the jab.
Stevens lands with a hook. Jack tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Stevens scores with a big combo that sends Jack crashing to the mat! He's still conscious but the referee has seen enough as Jack flops around uncontrollably and he's called an end to the fight! Stevens jumps onto the ropes and throws his mouthpiece into the crowd. Gross.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:27 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Benji Stevens!
Benji Stevens is the new featherweight champion!
An out of breath Benji Stevens thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
