Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Santiago Costa (ranked 345 p4p, 571 weight class) and Blake Phoenix (ranked 42 p4p, 76 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Phoenix stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Phoenix misses with a straight right.
Costa shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Phoenix as he jumps to the side.
Phoenix has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Phoenix misses with a hook. Costa ducked under it nicely.
A looping hook to the body misses from Costa. Phoenix does a little dance to reset his feet.
Costa gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Phoenix cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
