PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dolph Lundgren (ranked 4566 p4p, 4625 weight class) and Nav Sohaili (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nav Sohaili will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dolph Lundgren!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Nav Sohaili!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Ivan Kurochkin and Aleksei Zolotukhin.

Lundgren has closed the distance and engaged Sohaili in a clinch.
Lundgren tries a knee to the head but Sohaili blocks it.

Lundgren gets control of Sohaili's arms and successfully pulls guard. Lundgren will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Sohaili trying to control the position from guard on top but Lundgren is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Lundgren is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Lundgren perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sohaili is trying to control but can't.

Lundgren is nestled in close to Sohaili, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Sohaili tries to roll over but Lundgren keeps him under control.
Sohaili has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Lundgren is working away from the top position though.
Lundgren wants to free his trapped foot but Sohaili is holding on for dear life with his legs.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Lundgren is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Sohaili is just riding it out for now. Lundgren eventually gives up the hold.
Sohaili is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Lundgren controlling the pace.

Lundgren is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Lundgren is landing with some decent strikes but Sohaili is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Sohaili flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Sohaili wants to control but Lundgren is having none of it.
Lundgren prevents Sohaili from getting the reversal.
Sohaili reaches up to try and control the position but Lundgren seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Sohaili rolls and tries to escape and now Lundgren has his back!

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

Lundgren seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Sohaili for as long as he can get away with.
Sohaili tries to escape the position.
Lundgren biding his time, looking for the opening.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Lundgren's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

and Lundgren counters by moving into the clinch.
Sohaili tries to pull guard but Lundgren holds him up against the cage and eventually Sohaili drops back down to his feet.
Sohaili is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Lundgren jumps guard but Sohaili turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Lundgren is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Sohaili is defending well for now.

Lundgren's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Lundgren avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lundgren darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
It looks like Lundgren is going to stand back up.

Sohaili looking for submissions off his back.
Lundgren is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Lundgren lands a nice short elbow.
Sohaili wants to get back to full guard.
Lundgren lands with a punch from half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lundgren stands up and beckons Sohaili to join him on the feet.

Sohaili keeping moving, preventing Lundgren from controlling successfully.

Sohaili throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Sohaili wants to hit a sweep here but Lundgren passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Sohaili there!

Lundgren is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Sohaili to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Sohaili shrugs it off.

Lundgren stands up from mount. Strange move.
Sohaili slips a jab from Lundgren.
Lundgren changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Sohaili tries to avoid it but Lundgren manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Sohaili to the ground. Sohaili escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Sohaili walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Lundgren checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

Sohaili gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Sohaili wants to sweep here but Lundgren controlling him for the moment.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Lundgren lying in Sohaili's guard like a wet fish here, stalling away. Sohaili decides he's had enough of all that nonsense - he escapes his hips and locks up an armbar! Wow, that was slick! Lundgren taps! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:21 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Nav Sohaili!
