Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Danilo Hooper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Derrick Barnes !
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Summer Carpenter and Ron Honeybunn.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barnes fails to land with a series of punches.
Barnes has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Hooper uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Barnes .
Hooper misses with a wild combination.

Barnes shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Hooper napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Barnes lands a few punches from side control.
Barnes cracks Hooper with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Hooper is looking to regain half guard here but Barnes keeps moving and retains side control.
Check out the look on Barnes 's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Barnes postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Barnes scores with a couple of short elbows.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hooper tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Barnes wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Hooper knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Barnes on the ground.

Hooper tries to bench press Barnes off him but Barnes keeps the position.
Hooper takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Hooper is rocked!
Barnes lands a strong strike to the head of Hooper. That's dazed him! Barnes looking to finish here. Hooper is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Barnes lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Derrick Barnes !
After the fight, Derrick Barnes was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
