Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Charles Darwin (ranked 4817 p4p, 6286 weight class) and Throm Moonvale (ranked 486 p4p, 546 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Charles Darwin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Throm Moonvale!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Robert Douchet and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Darwin darts in and clinches Moonvale up against the cage.

Darwin works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Moonvale wants to improve his position but instead Darwin has moved into half guard.
Moonvale is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Darwin's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Darwin's back!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Darwin is really stuck here.

Darwin rolls, trying to escape but Moonvale keeps control of the position.

Darwin remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Darwin bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Moonvale tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Darwin wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Darwin lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Moonvale is trying to escape the mount.
Darwin tries to stand up but he's trapped just for the moment.
The referee warns Moonvale that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Darwin is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Moonvale can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Darwin misses with a few strikes there.
A looping hook to the body misses from Moonvale. Darwin does a little dance to reset his feet.
Throm Moonvale seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Darwin uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Moonvale.

Charles Darwin is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Moonvale takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Moonvale throws a lazy right hand but Darwin sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Moonvale looks to score with a jab to the body but Darwin is just out of range.

Darwin throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Moonvale was covering up waiting for the punch and Darwin finishes the takedown easily into guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Moonvale thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Darwin has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Moonvale looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Darwin passes into side control.
Moonvale is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Darwin off and has taken his back!

Moonvale is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Darwin has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Moonvale has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Darwin taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Moonvale doesn't care though - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:38 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Throm Moonvale!
A less than humble Throm Moonvale misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
