Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Yoshitomo Atasuke (ranked 6748 p4p, 4422 weight class) and Takeo Arai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yoshitomo Atasuke!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Shigeki Sano and Yukihiro Shimada.

Atasuke moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Atasuke fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Atasuke moves into the clinch.
Atasuke has Arai pressed against the cage, preventing Arai from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Arai's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Atasuke closes the distance and clinches up with Arai, looking for a takedown. Atasuke pushes Arai against the cage but Arai circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Arai avoids a punch combination nicely.
Arai throws a leg kick but Atasuke moved away.
Arai stuffs the takedown attempt from Atasuke. Atasuke gets slowly back to his feet.

Takeo Arai seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Arai fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Atasuke checks it well.

Atasuke wants to clinch up but Arai keeps it at a distance.
Atasuke fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Atasuke is breathing heavily.

Arai does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
It looked like Atasuke was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
That kick from Arai tenderised Atasuke's leg. Atasuke is trying to keep his angry face on.

Atasuke shoots in for a double leg but Arai sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Atasuke tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Arai defends well and Atasuke ends up having to push Arai into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Arai lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Atasuke keeps control of Arai as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Arai manages to break the clinch.
Atasuke tries to clinch up but Arai circles away and keeps his distance.
Arai bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Arai tries to score with a low kick but Atasuke moves his leg out of the way.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Arai swats away the attempt to clinch by Atasuke.
Arai throws a head kick that lands with a deafening thwack! The crowd roars as Atasuke stumbles backwards and falls to the mat. Arai follows into mount!
Arai get's back to his feet.
Arai misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Atasuke tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Arai swivels and escapes.
Arai was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
Arai pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Arai tries to land a front kick but Atasuke steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Arai buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Arai throws a nice inside leg kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Takeo Arai dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Atasuke tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Arai swivels and escapes.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Atasuke crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Arai - the referee stops the clock and Atasuke gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Arai. Atasuke manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Arai looks to land a body kick but Atasuke moved away.

and Atasuke counters with a series of strikes. Arai will be more careful next time no doubt.
Arai leaves Atasuke with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Arai has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Arai lands a big head kick that sends Atasuke to the canvas! Arai follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!
