Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Santos Jimenez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Christopher Runson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Santos Jimenez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Christopher Runson!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jimenez closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Jimenez trying to mount his opponent but Runson defends it.
Jimenez winds up and cracks Runson with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Runson is looking to control Jimenez's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Runson avoid being mounted?
Runson wants to get back to his feet.
Jimenez has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Jimenez not doing much here.

Jimenez stands up and beckons Runson to join him on the feet.
Runson scores with a nice body kick.
Runson looks to land a combination but Jimenez avoids it well.
Runson has his takedown stuffed

and Jimenez counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
Jimenez prevents Runson from improving his position.

Jimenez stands up and beckons Runson to join him on the feet.

Runson changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Jimenez looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Jimenez throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
Runson tries to move to mount but Jimenez blocks the move with his legs.
Jimenez is looking for a sweep.

Runson stands up and beckons Jimenez to his feet.
Runson tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Jimenez counters with a one-two to the body.
Jimenez is breathing heavily.

Jimenez closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Jimenez lands in his opponent's guard.

Jimenez stands up out of Runson's guard for a moment - Runson manages to land a nice upkick.

Runson throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Runson shoots and misses

and Jimenez counters with a single leg into guard. Runson didn't expect that.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
Jimenez postures up.
Runson trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.

Runson isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Jimenez stacks Runson on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Jimenez!

Runson tries to escape but Jimenez is in control.
You can see the frustration on Runson's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Runson is looking for a sweep.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jimenez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Runson keeps working.
Runson is trying to improve his position.
Runson misses with a strike from the bottom.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Runson gets off balance looking for a body kick
and Jimenez counters with a series of strikes. Runson will be more careful next time no doubt.
Runson is looking to clinch.
Jimenez shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Runson as he jumps to the side.
Runson tries to work over Jimenez's front leg with a kick but Jimenez checks it.

and Jimenez counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Jimenez.
Santos Jimenez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Christopher Runson.
Runson is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Jimenez is controlling him.

Jimenez stands up from Runson's guard - Jimenez perhaps looking for a knockout.
Jimenez falls off balance throwing a combination

and Runson counters with a nice double leg into guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Jimenez seems keen to control Runson's posture.
Runson wants to control from the top but Jimenez keeps moving.
Jimenez scores with a couple of body punches from the bottom.
Runson postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Jimenez looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Jimenez kicks Runson off and gets to his feet.
Nice takedown defense from Jimenez. No joy for Runson on that attempt.

Runson gets caught flat footed, as Jimenez shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Jimenez controls from within his opponent's guard.
Runson is trying to keep Jimenez in close.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Jimenez gets to his feet. Runson looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Jimenez drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Santos Jimenez dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Jimenez bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Runson is trying to improve his position.
Jimenez lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

Runson reaches up around Jimenez's neck trying to control. But Jimenez takes advantage instantly and he's locked on an arm triangle! Big trouble for Runson! Oh that looks nasty! A human being's head is not meant to turn that color! Runson is out! He's gone limp! The ref steps in to break the fighters up and Jimenez celebrates the victory with the fans!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:35 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Santos Jimenez!
