PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cochise Harris (ranked 2522 p4p, 2781 weight class) and Xander Machado (ranked 335 p4p, 362 weight class). Machado is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Latin Thugs. Xander Machado told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Cochise Harris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Xander Machado!

Harris throws a nice looking combination but Machado bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Machado flicks out a counter leg kick but Harris steps away.
Machado swings for the body but Harris moves out of range.
Harris throws a body shot but no joy.
Harris dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Harris misses with a left hand
and Machado counters with a two punch combo.
Machado moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Harris throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Machado slips under a jab.
Machado misses with the combination.
Harris was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Harris throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Machado has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Harris fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Machado.
No joy there for Harris, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Harris throws a shot to the body.
Harris looks to score with a jab to the body but Machado is just out of range.
Machado shoots in looking for a takedown. Harris tries to sprawl out of it but Machado keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Harris manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Harris cracks Machado with a right hand to the side of the head.
Harris tries to work over Machado's front leg with a kick but Machado checks it.
Harris works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

Machado is rocked!
Harris lunges in with a left hook that violently twists Machado head around and knocks him out cold! Harris hops onto the cage and yells out at the top of his lungs - Yeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaah! They're showing the replay on the big screens now; that was nasty! I hope one of the photographers got a good shot of it.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Cochise Harris!
