Matilla lands an overhand right.
Ahonen thuds his right hand into Matilla's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Ahonen misses with a wild body shot.
Matilla with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Ahonen lands the left hand.
Matilla looks to land a left hand but Ahonen moved out of range nicely.
Matilla tries to clinch but Ahonen is having none of it.
Matilla throws a poor cross that misses
and Ahonen connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Ahonen tries to move into range but Matilla moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Ahonen slips a jab and a cross from Matilla.
Ahonen fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Matilla bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Ahonen's head backwards.
Ahonen drops Matilla with a huge uppercut! Matilla drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes. Ahonen is raining down punches and the ref stops the fight! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Niko Ahonen!
In his post fight interview, Niko Ahonen started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
