PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Gef Set (ranked 5319 p4p, 4252 weight class) and Bouli Flobas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Bouli Flobas was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Set is defended easily by Flobas.
Flobas tries to bum rush Set with a series of wild strikes but Set uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Set rushes Flobas and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Set breaks the clinch.
Flobas throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Flobas misses with the combination.
Flobas slaps away a takedown attempt from Set, before circling back to the center of the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Set counters with a series of strikes. Flobas will be more careful next time no doubt.
Set wants to clinch up but Flobas keeps it at a distance.

Flobas shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Set as he avoids it easily.

Set throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Flobas's waist but Flobas gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Set off to one side.

Set tries to score a power double leg takedown but Flobas sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Set somewhat.
Flobas has worked on his takedown defense in the runup to this fight and it is paying off so far.

Set rushes Flobas and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Flobas tries to break the clinch but Set is controlling the position.
Set tries to pull guard but Flobas holds him up against the cage and eventually Set drops back down to his feet.
Set jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Flobas walks away with a smile on his face. Set gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Set shoots in but no luck this time.

Flobas tries to break free but Set pushes him back against the cage.

Set breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Set wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Set fails to land the takedown.
Flobas misses with a jab, cross combination.
Flobas has a takedown stuffed.
Flobas throws a half hearted mid kick.
Flobas slaps away a takedown attempt from Set, before circling back to the center of the mat.
No joy there for Flobas, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Flobas will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Horrible takedown attempt by Set or perhaps it was just good defense by Flobas, which made it look bad.

Flobas has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Bouli Flobas showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Set closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Set wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Flobas is now in half guard.
Flobas wants to free his trapped foot but Set is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Gef Set has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Bouli Flobas is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
