Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Stephen Burns!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Pyotr Kalashnikov!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Yuuki Gou and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burns fails with the takedown.

Burns bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Burns decides to stand back up. Burns steps back and let's Kalashnikov get back to his feet.
Kalashnikov cracks the inside of Burns's front leg.

Burns postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Kalashnikov is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Burns, into his guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Kalashnikov avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Burns wants to sweep but no luck.
Burns wants to get back to his feet but Kalashnikov is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Burns had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Kalashnikov is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Burns Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Kalashnikov's back instead.
Burns is breathing heavily.
Kalashnikov is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

Burns is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Kalashnikov is defending well though. Burns let's go of the attempt for now.
Burns wants to control but Kalashnikov is keeping busy.

Burns is persistently looking for the submission but Kalashnikov is defending it well.
Kalashnikov covering up well and avoiding damage.

Burns tries to land a front kick but Kalashnikov steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kalashnikov fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Burns.

The fighters circle momentarily. Kalashnikov darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Burns has gone for a leg lock! Kalashnikov slips out almost immediately though and dives into Burns's guard.

Pyotr Kalashnikov showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Kalashnikov will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Horrible takedown by Burns or perhaps it was just good defense by Kalashnikov which made him look bad.
Burns looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kalashnikov is fending him off so far but Burns persists. Nope, Kalashnikov circles away and we're back to standing.

I think Kalashnikov has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
