PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rofl Copter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Elidio Munhoz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rofl Copter had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rofl Copter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Elidio Munhoz!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Paulo Santos and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Copter moves into range and clinches up with Munhoz.

Munhoz decides to pull guard.
Copter trying to control the position from guard on top but Munhoz is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Munhoz has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Copter can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Copter looking to sit in guard and control but Munhoz gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Copter working for a triangle but Munhoz defends it easily.
Copter is trying to control the position but Munhoz postures up.
Munhoz wants to control from the top but Copter keeps moving.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Copter is looking to stand up but Munhoz isn't so interested in that idea.
Copter tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Munhoz drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Copter manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Munhoz has Copter in his guard.
Munhoz keeping moving, preventing Copter from controlling successfully.

Munhoz working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Copter has passed into half guard!
Copter looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Munhoz looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

Munhoz looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Munhoz looks gassed!
Munhoz is trying to control but can't.
Copter is trying to control. Munhoz wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Munhoz looking for submissions off his back.
Copter content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Copter seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Munhoz does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Copter throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Munhoz's waist but Munhoz gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Copter off to one side.
Copter is looking to clinch but Munhoz is avoiding it.
Copter tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Munhoz paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Horrible takedown by Munhoz or perhaps it was just good defense by Copter which made him look bad.
Copter scores with a kick to the midsection.
Copter fails with the takedown

and Munhoz decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Copter's guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Copter controls Munhoz momentarily but Munhoz frees himself.
Munhoz slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Copter wants to stand but Munhoz is controlling the position.

Munhoz is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Copter throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Munhoz escapes and throws Copter's legs to the side, diving into side control!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Copter is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Munhoz off and has taken his back!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Elidio Munhoz will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Copter throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Rofl Copter is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Munhoz drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Munhoz is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Copter is trying to control the position but Munhoz postures up.
Munhoz wants to pass the guard but Copter is keeping the position.

Munhoz postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Copter is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Munhoz, into his guard.

Munhoz has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Copter can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Copter avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Munhoz controls Copter momentarily but Copter frees himself.
Copter passes Munhoz's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Munhoz is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Copter pulls his head out easily.
Copter winds up and cracks Munhoz with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Copter has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Copter tries to control but Munhoz wriggling away.
Munhoz is wriggling around trying to escape.
Munhoz tries to hold on but Copter postures up.

Copter stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.

Munhoz shoots in and bounces Copter off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Munhoz works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Munhoz is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Munhoz is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Copter has managed to free his arm - good work.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Copter looks like he's trying to stand up.

Munhoz is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Copter is just riding it out for now. Munhoz eventually gives up the hold.

Munhoz is working for a kimura but Copter is defending it quite comfortably.
Munhoz is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Elidio Munhoz showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!



Munhoz closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Copter gets back to half guard.

Copter manages to get to full guard.
Munhoz working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Copter trying to control the position.
Copter wants to sweep here but Munhoz controlling him for the moment.

Munhoz drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Munhoz jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Copter working a defensive guard here.

Munhoz drops back, looking for a kneebar! Copter looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Copter looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Copter!
You can see the frustration on Munhoz's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Copter has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Munhoz bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Rofl Copter has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Elidio Munhoz is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Copter is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

I've got Munhoz winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
