PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Supreme Patty B (ranked 4951 p4p, 5166 weight class) and Matthew Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Patty B comes to the cage accompanied by Make It Shine. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Jeff Smith and Josh West.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Patty B dives in for a single leg takedown but Smith sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Patty B shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Smith as he avoids it easily.
Patty B shoots in looking for a takedown. Smith tries to sprawl out of it but Patty B keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Smith manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Patty B fails with an attempt to clinch.
Patty B tries to score a power double leg takedown but Smith sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Patty B somewhat.
Patty B sets himself, and Smith steps forward looking for the clinch! Patty B avoids it this time.
Patty B shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Smith pinned against the cage. Smith gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Patty B closes this distance looking for a takedown but Smith circles away.

Smith will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Patty B is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Smith to keep the fight standing.

Smith breaks from the clinch.
Patty B closes the distance and clinches up with Smith, looking for a takedown. Patty B pushes Smith against the cage but Smith circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Smith steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.

Patty B moves into the clinch.
Smith will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Patty B up against the cage.

Smith breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Smith slaps away a takedown attempt from Patty B, before circling back to the center of the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Matthew Smith dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Smith tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Patty B defends well and Smith ends up having to push Patty B into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Patty B changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Smith tries to avoid it but Patty B manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Smith to the ground. Smith escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Smith scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Patty B is looking for a sweep. Smith is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Smith works his foot free and advances to mount.
Patty B tries to lock up and control but Smith gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Smith looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Patty B wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Smith.

Smith is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Patty B can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Smith wants to control but instead Patty B manages to regain half guard.
Smith wants to stand but Patty B has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

Patty B is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Smith's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Smith's back!

Smith throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Patty B's waist but Patty B gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Smith off to one side.

Smith shoots for a takedown but Patty B saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Smith slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Smith's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Patty B is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
