The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McDermott lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Shelby circles away quickly and effectively.
Shelby lands the left hand.
Shelby cracks the inside of McDermott's front leg.
McDermott falls off balance throwing a combination

and Shelby moves into the clinch.
McDermott has Shelby pushed against the cage.

Shelby breaks from the clinch.
McDermott throws a series of punches but Shelby avoids them all with ease.

McDermott ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Shelby moves away.

McDermott lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Shelby or not.
McDermott lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Shelby lands a damaging elbow.
McDermott jumps guard but Shelby stands there with McDermott around his waist. McDermott gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

McDermott throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Shelby sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Shelby tries to close the distance and clinch but McDermott swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Shelby dives in and grabs McDermott's left leg, looking for a takedown. McDermott pushes down on Shelby's head and hops out.

Well McDermott has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
