PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jan Paul Valens (ranked 1238 p4p, 184 weight class) and Jon Snitch (ranked 1920 p4p, 268 weight class). Snitch has chosen I Wanna Rock as his entrance music. Jan Paul Valens is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 13 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jan Paul Valens!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 22 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jon Snitch!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Sosuke Kotani and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Valens lands with a slapping head kick.
Valens throws a right and a left that Snitch avoids nicely.
Valens definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Snitch will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Snitch just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromValens.
Valens leaves Snitch with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Snitch moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Snitch closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Snitch lands in his opponent's guard.

Valens is pulling down on Snitch's head. It's preventing any offense from Snitch, at least for the moment.

Valens tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Snitch slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Snitch stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Valens swivels though and keeps the full guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Valens is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Valens looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Snitch with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Valens slips a nice elbow through Snitch's hands, connecting with Snitch's forehead.

Snitch cracks Valens with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Valens fakes the leg kick and cracks Snitch in the body.
Valens wants to land a leg kick but Snitch is out of range.
Valens throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Snitch sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Snitch has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Snitch lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Valens has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
A punch lands to the side of Snitch 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Snitch misses with an uppercut. Valens saw that one coming.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Snitch fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Valens manages to avoid it.

Snitch blocks a head kick by Valens.
Snitch scores with a decent looking hook.
Valens throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Valens throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Snitch ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Snitch rushes Valens and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Snitch has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Valens is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Valens misses with a short punch on the inside.
Snitch slowing the pace effectively.
Snitch lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Snitch is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Snitch lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
Valens lands a left hand that snaps the head of Snitch backwards.

Snitch is rocked!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Valens looking to score a takedown. He gets a body lock and scores a very heavy trip takedown. That's knocked the wind out of Snitch! Valens lands strikes from the mount and the ref steps in to end the fight!
