PBP Commentary

Van Bromer kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Go To War - Nothing More. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Roland Allen!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Van Bromer misses with a double jab.
Van Bromer misses with a series of wild punches.
Van Bromer smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Allen takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
We've been told by Van Bromer's head coaches at ~T~ Troid - Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Van Bromer misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Van Bromer looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
And Allen tries to counter it with a takedown but Van Bromer pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Van Bromer scores with a one two! Allen had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Van Bromer!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Allen keeps the fight on the outside.
Allen with the counter takedown but Van Bromer avoids it easily.

Van Bromer lands a head kick. Allen smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Van Bromer throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Allen feints the counter takedown.
Allen's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Van Bromer connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Allen scrambles back to his feet.

and Allen counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Allen.

Allen postures up and lands a big shot to Van Bromer's brow.
Van Bromer pulls Allen in close to his closed guard and prevents Allen from doing any damage or advancing position.

Allen drops back looking for a leg! Van Bromer is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Van Bromer manages to kick Allen off! Allen jumps back into Van Bromer's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Van Bromer is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Allen chips away with some ground and pound.
Allen is fighting to break Van Bromer's control of his arms but Van Bromer is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Van Bromer wants to sweep here but Allen controlling him for the moment.

Allen seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

A frustrated look appears on Allen's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Allen is trying to break free.
Allen tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Van Bromer just stands there and leans against the cage.

Allen drags the fight down to the ground.
Van Bromer not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Van Bromer has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Allen is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Van Bromer got a little sloppy there for a moment and Allen has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Van Bromer has managed to get both his arms back between Allen's legs - danger averted.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
