Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Nathan Gerrard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Joe Joe!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Bart Greer and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gerrard has a takedown stuffed.
Gerrard blocks a head kick by Joe.

Gerrard closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Joe sneaks out the side door and pushes Gerrard away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
Joe throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Gerrard attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.

Gerrard jumps guard but Joe stands there with Gerrard around his waist. Gerrard gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Gerrard drops down looking for an ankle pick but Joe pulls his leg out and moves away.

Gerrard takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Joe tries to keep at a distance but Gerrard has taken the fight into the clinch.

Gerrard is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Joe pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Gerrard is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Joe has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Gerrard uses from the top position.
Gerrard has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Gerrard is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Gerrard has his foot on Joe's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Joe works his way back into a safe position though.

Joe lands with a kick to the temple. Gerrard shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Joe throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.

Gerrard shoots in and bounces Joe off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Gerrard wants to control from the top but Joe keeps moving.
Gerrard looking to sit in guard and control but Joe gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Gerrard has his hands on Joe's head, controlling the position.
Gerrard wants to stand up but Joe is controlling him.

Gerrard working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Joe has passed into half guard!
Joe has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Still in half guard, Joe seems content to control.
Gerrard is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Joe's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Joe's back!

Gerrard is looking for the choke from the back position but Joe is controlling his hands well.

Joe is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Gerrard gets his way!

Gerrard is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Joe defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Joe is trying to get back to his feet but Gerrard has full control of the position and if anything, Joe has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Gerrard is trying to stick to Joe's back but Joe is turning into Gerrard. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Gerrard's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Joe.
Gerrard is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Gerrard throws a nice elbow from the bottom.

That was a close second round but I would say that Nathan Gerrard will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Nice body kick there by Joe.
Gerrard dives in and grabs Joe's left leg, looking for a takedown. Joe pushes down on Gerrard's head and hops out.

Joe lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Joe Joe seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Joe scores with a nice body kick.
Joe lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Gerrard clinches up with Joe and pushes him back against the cage.
Gerrard is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Joe tries to throw a body punch but Gerrard avoids it by throwing Joe back against the cage.
Gerrard wants a takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nathan Gerrard. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
A slapping body kick lands there for Joe.

Joe scores with a head kick. Gerrard tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Joe throws a head kick that looked like it stung.


Gerrard is rocked!

Joe lands a big head kick that sends Gerrard tumbling to the mat! Joe takes a step backwards and waves Gerrard back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Oh Gerrard is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Joe feints and then cracks Gerrard's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Gerrard down.
Joe throws a nasty head kick that just misses. He throws another kick to the head of his opponent and almost takes it off! Gerrard crumples to the floor and the fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:36 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Joe Joe!
Joe Joe decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
