Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Kelly (ranked 4697 p4p, 388 weight class) and Raul Mendez (ranked 3314 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Ryan Kelly has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Ryan Kelly seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendez shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Mendez showed some decent athleticism there.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Mendez slips a nice elbow through Kelly's hands, connecting with Kelly's forehead.
Mendez landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Mendez seems to be working for a kimura but Kelly defends the submission attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kelly is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Mendez pulls his head out easily.
