Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Julius Johnson (ranked 2479 p4p, 139 weight class) and Bernhard River (ranked 3386 p4p, 184 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A punch lands to the side of Johnson 's head but he takes it in his stride.
We've been hearing reports that Johnson has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Good leg kick by River there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Johnson takes a kick to the side of the head.
River uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Johnson takes a swing at River's ribcage but misses.
Johnson misses with a takedown attempt
and River counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Johnson is rocked!

River shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Oh Johnson is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

River is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Johnson is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
