PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Darrion Moss (ranked 2245 p4p, 0 weight class) and Martin Skellebre (ranked 3244 p4p, 0 weight class). Moss comes to the cage accompanied by Can't C Me. Martin Skellebre will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Darrion Moss!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Martin Skellebre!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Frank Dennis and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Moss shoots in looking for a takedown. Skellebre tries to sprawl out of it but Moss keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Skellebre manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Moss backing away here, and Skellebre unleashes a leg kick that just misses.
Moss changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Skellebre tries to avoid it but Moss manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Skellebre to the ground. Skellebre escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Moss closes this distance looking for a takedown but Skellebre circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Darrion Moss. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Moss drives through with a takedown into Skellebre's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Moss with a flurry of punches that miss.

Skellebre seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Moss stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Skellebre swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Moss chips away with some ground and pound.
Moss has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Moss throws a big elbow that misses.

Skellebre really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Moss. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Moss is looking to pass into half guard but Skellebre pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Skellebre is in guard.

Moss seems keen to control Skellebre's posture.
Skellebre wants to control from the top but Moss keeps moving.
Moss bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Skellebre's guard.

Moss not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Moss thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Skellebre is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Moss tries to roll over but Skellebre keeps him under control.
Skellebre is looking to stall here but Moss recovers full guard.
Moss has Skellebre pulled in close to control his posture.
Moss keeping moving, preventing Skellebre from controlling successfully.
Skellebre tries to free his leg and advance position but Moss is retaining full guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Moss has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Skellebre displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Moss.

Skellebre throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Moss tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Skellebre is in Moss's guard.

Moss is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Moss has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Moss shoots in looking for a takedown but Skellebre manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Moss's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Skellebre gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Skellebre is staying active underneath Moss, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Moss is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Moss throws a strike but Skellebre avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Moss shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Skellebre but Skellebre pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Skellebre has Moss pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Skellebre pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Moss tumbling to the mat - Skellebre dives into Moss's guard.

I would just about give that final round to Martin Skellebre.
