Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Rico Wilson (ranked 7073 p4p, 494 weight class) and Fred Beyako (ranked 5927 p4p, 436 weight class). Rico Wilson could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Fred Beyako's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Fred Beyako!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, David Schapiro and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wilson avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Beyako tries to clinch but Wilson moves out of range.
Rico Wilson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Wilson enables Beyako to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Wilson manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Beyako throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Beyako has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Wilson has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Beyako has passed into side control.

Beyako decides to stand back up. Beyako steps back and let's Wilson get back to his feet.

We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Beyako has eaten all the pies!

That was a close round but I would say that Rico Wilson will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Beyako on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Wilson jabs Beyako to the body, keeping him at a distance.

Beyako jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Wilson walks away with a smile on his face. Beyako gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

and Wilson counters with a low kick, right behind Beyako 's knee.

Wilson connects with a leg kick. Beyako looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Wilson shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Beyako eats them both and turns towards Wilson to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Beyako is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Wilson can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Beyako working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Wilson turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Beyako off and cradles Wilson's limp body as Beyako celebrates with his corner.
