The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Newsom takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Newsom lands with a thumping leg kick.
Newsom gets off balance looking for a body kick
and Julian counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Newsom thinking.
Newsom takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Newsom closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Julian to the mat! Julian manages to get full guard.
Newsom stays in close to Julian's body and controls the position.

Newsom gets to his feet. Julian looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Julian lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Julian tries to close the distance and clinch but Newsom swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Newsom shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Julian is trying to defend but Newsom finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Newsom shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Julian's guard.
Julian is looking to stand back up but Newsom counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Julian.

Julian is looking to clinch but Newsom is avoiding it.
Newsom attempts a counter takedown but Julian avoids it well and moves away.
Newsom fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Newsom could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Julian moves in looking to clinch but Newsom pushes him off.
Newsom throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Julian's waist but Julian gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Newsom off to one side.

Newsom shoots for a takedown but Julian saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Newsom jumps guard but Julian stands there with Newsom around his waist. Newsom gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Julian works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

Oh Newsom is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Newsom is trying to break free.
Julian swings wildly with an uppercut but Newsom uses good head movement to avoid it.
