The judges for this bout are Ben Hemmingworth, Damien Edna and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendes lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
It looks like Leonel Da Costa has been cut.
Mendes looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Da Costa!
Da Costa throws Mendes to one side and escapes!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Mendes feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Mendes is sitting in close to Da Costa's body. Da Costa has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Mendes is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Mendes is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Da Costa.
