The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yurchon shoots in looking for a takedown but Vex manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Yurchon's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Yurchon closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Vex quickly recovers to half guard.
Vex is holding on to half guard well.

Yurchon is trying to work for a kimura but Vex is defending well.
Vex moves into full guard.
Yurchon won't allow Vex to get back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Vex is pulling down on Yurchon's head. It's preventing any offense from Yurchon, at least for the moment.

Vex working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Yurchon doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Yurchon manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Yurchon has gone for a leg lock! Vex slips out almost immediately though and dives into Yurchon's guard.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Vex's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Vex is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Yurchon is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Yurchon postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Vex is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Yurchon, into his guard.


Yurchon has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Vex can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Vex is looking to pass into half guard but Yurchon pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Yurchon is in guard.

Yurchon drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Yurchon jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

And Vex counters with a quick kick to the body but Yurchon blocks it.

Mcmahon shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Zuniga but Zuniga pushes him off and we're back to square one.
A little feinted left hand from Zuniga on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Mcmahon goes for a double leg but Zuniga avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Zuniga continues to drive forward.
Zuniga attempts a counter takedown but Mcmahon avoids it well and moves away.
Zuniga doesn't manage to clinch there - Mcmahon circles away.
Despite the aggression on Mcmahon's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

Mcmahon tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Zuniga wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Zuniga is putting a hurting on Mcmahon here, landing some big shots from side control.
The referee asks Zuniga politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Zuniga prefers to stall for the moment though.

Zuniga has hold of Mcmahon's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Mcmahon seems comfortable defending it but Zuniga has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Mcmahon is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Mcmahon is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Zuniga couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Pigmy is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Pigmy happy to just control the position for now.

Pigmy is working to tighten his grip on Sogavare's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Sogavare has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Pigmy is really squeezing tight and eventually Sogavare passes out! Pigmy breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
