The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sherman is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Burton.
Burton's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Burton duly obliges.

Burton throws a series of punches but Sherman avoids them all with ease.

Burton digs a right hand underneath Sherman's ribcage. Sherman let out a lung full of air as it connected.

Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Sherman lands a couple of good shots and Burton has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Sherman has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Burton's body.
Let's hope that Sherman has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Love shoots in but no luck this time.
Love shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
May drops down looking for a counter takedown but Love sprawls and moves away.

May shoots in and gets a takedown into Love's guard.
May postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
May pushing down on Love's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
May throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

May is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Love is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
May lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
May throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
May breaks from Love's wrist control and lands an elbow.

May has hold of Love's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Love manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
May thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
May sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

May with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Love tries a head kick but it misses.

May shoots in and bounces Love off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
May has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
May postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Love looking to hit a scissor sweep but May is one step ahead there.
May is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Love managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by May.

Love looks for a takedown but May sprawls well.
May May has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Makoa Love.

Love keeps the fight on the outside.

May thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
May gets to mount! Love was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.

May throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.

May working for a submission but Love is keeping him at bay.

May is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Love to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Love shrugs it off.

May lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.
