With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Zaid Sims! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 7 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Manny Torres! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Peter Branson and David Hoff.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Torres darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Sims kicks off Torres and gets to his feet. Manny Torres seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Sims stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Sims wants it to stay on the feet. Sims wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch. Torres looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Sims half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Torres shoots in and bounces Sims off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Sims pushes Torres off and scrambles back to his feet.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Torres closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
That's one minute gone in the round. Torres wants to stand but Sims has his arm trapped. Sims is trying to improve his position. Sims gets back to half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Torres seems to be working for a kimura but Sims defends the submission attempt. Sims has one foot on Torres's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sims tries for a takedown but Torres sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Sims goes for a double leg but Torres avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Torres continues to drive forward. Sims drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Torres gets the underhooks and prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Zaid Sims. That's going to take a lot out of him. Sims stops a takedown attempt from Torres.
I was talking to Sims's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Torres drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Sims gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Sims is trying to trip Torres. He has hold of a leg but Torres is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Sims persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sims stands up from guard. Let's bang! Sims slaps away a takedown attempt from Torres, before circling back to the center of the mat. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Torres. Torres looks winded! Torres moves into the clinch. Sims manages to break the clinch.
Torres closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Sims has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Torres is on him like a limpet, forcing Sims back against the cage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sims is working for takedown but Torres is calmly controlling the position for now. Torres is trying to break the clinch but Sims has him pressed against the cage. Sims breaks from the clinch.
Sims darts in looking for a takedown but Torres gets double underhooks and turns Sims into the cage. Torres is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Sims is keeping busy. Torres is trying to break free. Sims wants to take the fight to the mat but Torres manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Sims wants a takedown.

Sims is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Torres can do to turn this around? Torres closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Torres lands in his opponent's guard. Sims pushes Torres off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Torres misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Sims half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Torres is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sims misses with a takedown attempt - Torres sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Sims fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Torres to the ground. Sims is now in Torres's guard. Sims landing some decent shots from guard. Sims trying to control but Torres is working from the bottom. Zaid Sims overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Sims thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sims looking to sit in guard and control but Torres gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Torres has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Sims to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Torres is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Sims pulls down on the head and he's put Torres to sleep! This one is all over!

Parks nods at Conrad to acknowledge the strikes. Parks closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Parks lands in his opponent's guard. Parks looking to sit in guard and control but Conrad gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Our spies down at at Cozad The Island inform us that Parks has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off? Parks working for a triangle but Conrad defends it easily.
We've been hearing that Conrad has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish. Parks has momentary wrist control but Conrad slips an elbow through the middle. Parks tries to land a sweep but no joy. Parks has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Conrad can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Conrad knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Parks on the ground. This has been an exciting period of action! Parks is looking to cinch up a triangle. Conrad throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Parks's body to avoid the submission. Parks has instead reached around Conrad's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Parks arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Pacio uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Couture. Couture definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Xavier Couture seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Couture throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Couture looks to land a right hand but Pacio moved out of range. Couture shoots in for a double leg but Pacio sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Couture instigates a clinch. Couture effectively controlling the action here. Couture wants to take the fight to the mat but Pacio manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Pacio prevents a body shot from Couture. Couture leaning against his opponent.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Maleszewski throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Maleszewski tries to work over Miami's front leg with a kick but Miami checks it. Maleszewski waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Miami. Miami digs a good hook to Maleszewski's body.
Maleszewski throws a looping overhand right but Miami ducks down to avoid it. Maleszewski misses with a shot to the body and Miami counters with a stiff right hand. Miami uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Maleszewski.
Jab, jab by Miami - just one landing. Miami tries to clinch there but Maleszewski circles away.
And Maleszewski tries to counter it with a takedown but Miami pushes his down on his head and steps out. Miami connects with a left and a right that sees a clearly hurt Maleszewski covering up! Miami comes in with a big uppercut and Maleszewski goes doooown! He's slumped up against the cage, eyes staring blankly into space.

Igwe moves out of range of the strikes. Igwe looks like he wants to counter punch here. Igwe tries to land a front kick but Chavez steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Igwe getting the better of the striking in that exchange. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Durham shoots in for a takedown but Duboulay shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Duboulay has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Durham shoots in but no luck this time. Durham goes for a double leg but Duboulay avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Duboulay continues to drive forward. Durham is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Duboulay defends it well.
