Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Elliott Acosta (ranked 5229 p4p, 5918 weight class) and Michael Brogan (ranked 455 p4p, 493 weight class). Brogan is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Immortal Technique - Open Your Eyes. Michael Brogan told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cowan takes a swing at Preston's ribcage but misses.
Cowan gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Preston misses with a looping left.
Cowan shoots for a double leg takedown but Preston sprawls well. He's pushed Cowan's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Cowan looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Cowan uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Preston.

Cowan has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Cowan gets caught by a brutal right hook which buckles his knees! Cowan tries to backpedal with his spaghettilegs but Preston is headhunting and goes for the kill. A jab and a right hook connect and Cowan buckles badly as his eyes roll back. The referee steps in and saves Cowan!! Cowan is complaining but he was clearly out on his feet. Preston throws his mouthpiece into the crowd. Mmmm spit-tastic.
