The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kaveri shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Muhammad counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Muhammad lands a jab to the nose.
Kaveri shoots and misses
and Muhammad counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Kaveri gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Muhammad counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Pikku Kaveri. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Muhammad cracks Kaveri with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Kaveri shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Kaveri was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Muhammad is trying to improve his position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Muhammad can do anything to dispel that myth.
Kaveri is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Muhammad is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Muhammad is holding Kaveri down, trying to stall.
Kaveri is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Muhammad looks calm but he's in trouble here. Kaveri gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Muhammad is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Kaveri lets go of the hold and Muhammad can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Joseph closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. JK quickly recovers to half guard.
