Coming up we have a middleweight kickboxing rules bout between Canelo Alvarez (ranked 5416 p4p, 5271 weight class) and Marvin Hagler (ranked 508 p4p, 503 weight class). Alvarez comes to the ring accompanied by Mexico Lindo y Querido. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Marvin Hagler!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Joseph Jones and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hagler misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Alvarez cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Alvarez dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Alvarez takes a swing at Hagler's ribcage but misses.
Hagler throws out a loose jab but Alvarez uses good head movement to avoid it.
Alvarez seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Alvarez gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Hagler.
Alvarez takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Hagler missing with a left hand there. Alvarez was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Hagler looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Hagler ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Alvarez slips a jab from Hagler.
Hagler connects with a crushing straight, right on the bridge of Alvarez's nose, sending him crumpling to the mat! That's really rocked Alvarez - is he going to beat the count??? 4,5,6,7,8,9.....10 - he's not made it - this one is all over!

Coming up we have a middleweight kickboxing rules bout between Roy Jones Jr (ranked 5294 p4p, 5327 weight class) and Ray Leonard (ranked 504 p4p, 505 weight class). Leonard is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by It's Tricky - Run DMC. Ray Leonard told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Jones Jr moves away from the strike by Leonard.
Leonard throws a sloppy body shot
and Jones Jr counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Leonard takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Jones Jr slips under a jab from Leonard.
Leonard looks to land a right hand but Jones Jr moved out of range.
Jones Jr takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Jones Jr gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Leonard.
A big right from Leonard misses.
Jones Jr was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Ray Leonard seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Leonard!

Jones Jr definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Jones Jr catches his opponent with a big hook that sends him to the canvas! Leonard stumbles back to his feet but will the referee allow it to continue? Leonard walks forwards and this one will be allowed to continue! Come on!

Jones Jr closes the distance and catches Leonard with a lead hook that drops him to the canvas! Leonard is clearly dazed and struggling here! 3,4,5,6,7 and Leonard is up to his feet but the referee has called it off! Leonard is still far too wobbly and he's not going to allow the fight to continue! Jones Jr takes it!
