Undercard bout

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jake Shields (ranked 2948 p4p, 3006 weight class) and Emil Nikolov (ranked 330 p4p, 336 weight class). Shields kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Seven Nation Army. Jake Shields had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 156.8lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ando lands with a hook. Abdullayev tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Ando connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Abdullayev's hands.
Abdullayev dives in for a single leg takedown but Ando sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Ando lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.

Ando escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Abdullayev walks straight into a right hand from Ando - that's dropped him! Ando jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Abdullayev from any more punishment! Abdullayev complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
