Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Robin Godbeer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, James Cena!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Godbeer gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Cena stops Godbeer from standing up.
Cena throws a strike but Godbeer rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Cena is adopting a defensive guard.
Cena utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Godbeer has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Cena bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Godbeer's guard.

Cena is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Godbeer wriggles free and stands up.

Godbeer closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Cena did well to prevent Godbeer getting side control.

Godbeer looks to land a strike but Cena avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Cena pushes Godbeer off and gets back to his feet.

Cena feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Cena controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Godbeer will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Cena slips nicely into half guard.
Cena looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Godbeer with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Cena looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Cena wants to work for an arm triangle but Godbeer is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Cena looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Godbeer with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Godbeer blocking the ground and pound attempt from Cena.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cena content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Cena has taken the fight to the clinch.
Godbeer is trying to force a seperation but Cena has the dominant position.

Cena pulls guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Godbeer tries to free his leg and advance position but Cena is retaining full guard.
Cena pulls Godbeer in close to prevent any damage.
Cena wants to sweep here but Godbeer controlling him for the moment.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

James Cena dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Cena stuffs the takedown.
Cena has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Godbeer tries to score a power double leg takedown but Cena sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Godbeer somewhat.
Godbeer fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Cena avoids it really well and circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Robin Godbeer. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Godbeer moves out of range as Cena strikes.
Godbeer misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Cena drives through and clinches with Godbeer against the cage.

Cena escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Cena pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Cena changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Godbeer looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Godbeer takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Cena advances to mount.
Cena content just to control the position here.
Godbeer looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!

Godbeer is having to fend off submission attempts from Cena, who is looking to sink in the choke. Cena doesn't have the hooks in though and Godbeer manages to reverse position! He's now on top, in his opponent's guard.
Godbeer working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Cena bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Godbeer's guard.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Cena drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Godbeer manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Cena has Godbeer in his guard.

Godbeer wants to pass the guard but Cena is keeping the position.
Cena has Godbeer pulled in close to control his posture.
Cena striking off his back but it's not causing Godbeer any problems.
Cena has his hands on Godbeer's head, controlling the position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Godbeer avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Cena has control of Godbeer's left arm, preventing Godbeer from doing any damage.

Cena uses the cage to get back to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Cena gets the takedown into side control.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

James Cena showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Godbeer stalks Cena and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Cena's face. Cena staggers backwards, shaken.
It looks like James Cena has been cut.

Cena moves into range and clinches up with Godbeer.

Cena gets control of Godbeer's arms and successfully pulls guard. Cena will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Cena throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Godbeer tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Cena is in Godbeer's guard.

Godbeer is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The fighters are working up against the cage. Cena manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Cena can't break the clinch.
Godbeer has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Cena after a bit of a struggle.

Cena's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Godbeer will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Cena fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Godbeer, pushing him back against the cage.
Cena lands with a right to the head.
Godbeer is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Cena pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Godbeer prevents Cena from breaking the clinch.

Cena jumps guard.

Cena is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Godbeer is aware though and is defending well.
Cena lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.


Cena gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Godbeer shoots in for a takedown but Cena shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Godbeer shoots for a takedown but Cena saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Well Cena has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
