Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Slava Genov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Harmon Reicht!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Shigeki Fujiwara and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Genov throws a looping overhand right but Reicht ducks down to avoid it.
Genov thows a left - swing and a miss!
Genov circles away from the clinch attempt.
Reicht keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Genov leaves Reicht with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Genov looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit.
Reicht doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Reicht fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Genov avoids it really well and circles away.
No joy there for Reicht, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
It looked like Genov wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Reicht throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Genov counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Reicht thinking.
Reicht dives in for a single leg takedown but Genov sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Slava Genov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Harmon Reicht.
Genov scores with a punch to the head.
It looks like Harmon Reicht has been cut.
Genov throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Reicht sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Reicht tries to counter with a clinch but Genov shakes him off and moves away.

and Genov counters with a nice uppercut.
Genov displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Reicht.

and Genov counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Genov feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Reicht sprawling to the canvas! Reicht rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Genov finish him?!
Reicht is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Reicht throws a combination that misses
and Genov counters with a beautiful right hand that knocks Reicht out cold! What a finish! Genov is going crazy, running around the mat, summersaulting off the corner posts and screaming into the cameras. Something tells me he's pretty happy!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Slava Genov!

Ellison looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Despite the aggression on Mendeleev's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

Ellison has managed to clinch.

Ellison has picked Mendeleev up - he's going for a ride! Ellison dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Ellison is looking for a kimura but Mendeleev is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Ellison to get the leverage.
Mendeleev looks like he's trying to stand up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ellison is taking a breather. Mendeleev says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Ellison is trying to control. Mendeleev wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Ellison wants to work for an arm triangle but Mendeleev is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Ellison is just content to waste time from the top position. Mendeleev takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ellison forces Mendeleev back against the cage and clinches.
Mendeleev lands with a right to the head.

Mendeleev gets control of Ellison's arms and successfully pulls guard. Mendeleev will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Mendeleev is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Ellison is controlling him.

Oh but Mendeleev is tightening it up a little... Ellison has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Ellison reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Ellison taps out! Nice BJJ there by Mendeleev!
