Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gerome loads up on a big right hand but Azzi slips the punch.
Azzi throwing a counter right hand but Gerome manages to avoid it.
Gerome takes a swing at Azzi's ribcage but misses.

Gerome has Azzi up against the cage in a clinch.
Gerome looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Azzi's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Gerome breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Gerome rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

Azzi is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gaur Gerome seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Azzi counters with a crisp one two that drops Gerome! Azzi thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Gerome to his feet! Gerome is in big trouble!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Azzi was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

Azzi throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Gerome is still on wobbly legs! Can Azzi finish him?

A little feinted left hand from Azzi on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Gerome seems to have recovered his senses.
Gerome throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
It looked like Azzi wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Azzi is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Azzi cracks Gerome with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Azzi has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Gerome to stand back up!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Gerome misses the body punch
and Azzi counters with a huge left! Gerome is in big trouble! He's backing up but Azzi isn't giving him chance to recover. Under a barage of punches the ref has to step in to save Gerome from any more damage. A dominating finish by Azzi!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mustafa Azzi!
Mustafa Azzi decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
