The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tard looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Mercer tries to clinch but Tard is having none of it.

Tard looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Tard seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Mercer for as long as he can get away with.

Tard feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Gracie misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Gracie has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Conway is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Gracie yanks on the arm and Conway is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Gracie.
