The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chu swings for the body but Martin moves out of range.
Chu has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Martin is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Martin closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Chu controlling the position well.
Chu is continuing to stall.
Chu really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Martin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Chu is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Chu is controlling Martin's trapped leg to prevent Martin from advancing to side control.
Martin definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Martin seems to be working for a kimura but Chu defends the submission attempt.

Martin is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Martin moves nicely into side control.

Martin tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Martin has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Chu wants to control but Martin postures up.

Martin has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Chu is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Martin yanks on the arm and Chu is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Martin.

Boortz cracks Mitchell with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Boortz has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Mitchell to stand back up!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Mitchell shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Boortz eats them both and turns towards Mitchell to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Oh Mitchell is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Mitchell gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Boortz gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Mitchell is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!

Gonzalez displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Beerhands throws out the jab.

Beerhands throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.

Gonzalez breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
