and King counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Tibitti drops his hands momentarily and Spiagnu takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Spiagnu will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Menhaden feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Murasaki has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Menhaden has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Murasaki has hold of one of Menhaden's legs. Menhaden is fighting the takedown attempt but Murasaki gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Arvi Lind and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McCarthy throws a head kick that misses.
McCarthy lands a head kick!
Zappacosta scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Zappacosta scores with a hook to the body. McCarthy takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Zappacosta works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
McCarthy does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
It looked like Zappacosta was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from McCarthy.
McCarthy misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
A counter left hand to the body from Zappacosta misses its target.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McCarthy doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Zappacosta counters with a huge left! McCarthy is in big trouble! He's backing up but Zappacosta isn't giving him chance to recover. Under a barage of punches the ref has to step in to save McCarthy from any more damage. A dominating finish by Zappacosta!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Giacomo Zappacosta!
After winning the bout, Giacomo Zappacosta thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
