Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jordan Fairchild! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Micheal Bates! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Kenichi Hosakawa and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bates cracks Fairchild with an open hand slap. Bates misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Fairchild went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. Bates pushes Fairchild up against the cage in a clinch. Bates goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Fairchild looking to slow down the pace here. Bates tries to throw a body punch but Fairchild avoids it by throwing Bates back against the cage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The referee calls for Bates to work.
Fairchild is trying to break the clinch but Bates is controlling him. Bates scores with a hook to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fairchild softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. Bates misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Bates pushes Fairchild back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head. Fairchild tries to break free but Bates pushes him back against the cage. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Bates lands with a short shot to the head. I was talking to Fairchild's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Fairchild misses with a hook to the ribs.
Fairchild is pressed up against the cage. Bates has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Fairchild down to the mat. Fairchild avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Fairchild takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Jordan Fairchild is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Bates just misses with a punch to the body.
Fairchild quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect. Bates changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Fairchild tries to avoid it but Bates manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Fairchild to the ground. Fairchild escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Jordan Fairchild has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Micheal Bates.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bates cracks Fairchild with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Bates throws a sloppy body shot
and Fairchild holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. Bates scores with a nice hook to the head. Bates content to slow the pace in the clinch.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Fairchild tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Bates smiles and moves away.
Bates shoots in and drives through. Fairchild sprawls well. Fairchild throws a counter high kick but Bates was just alert enough to avoid it.

and Fairchild counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Bates ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Fairchild moves away. Fairchild is looking to counter with a shot to the body. Bates has taken the fight to the clinch.

He's trying desperately to grab hold of Bates around the waist but Bates pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Bates is the winner by TKO! Bates jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Walker dives in and scores a takedown into Baba's guard. Baba wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Walker manages to pass to side control. Baba is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Walker lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Walker content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Walker connects with a nice short shot to Baba's temple. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Baba is in trouble now - Walker has advanced to mount! Walker working the ground and pound effectively.

Walker breaks from Baba's wrist control and lands an elbow. Baba defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Walker. Walker controlling the pace for now. Walker's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Walker softens up his opponent with a couple of shots there and then CRACK! One massive shot lands there and Baba is out cold! Walker jumps to his feet and celebrates on the cage with the fans, who are, quite frankly, going absolutely mental!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kutuzov looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Mauck attempts a counter takedown but Kutuzov avoids it well and moves away. Mauck doesn't manage to clinch there - Kutuzov circles away.

Kutuzov's coach down at Wooten Jiu Jitsu & Boxing was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Kutuzov's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Kutuzov being controlled here, momentarily. Kutuzov really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mauck. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Kutuzov throws a lazy body kick and Mauck counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Kutuzov! Kutuzov tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck. Mauck could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Kutuzov is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Mauck takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Mauck throwing strikes here but Kutuzov is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

Mauck shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Kutuzov but Kutuzov pushes him off and we're back to square one. Mauck shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kutuzov defends it nicely. Mauck has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Kutuzov. Kutuzov pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Mauck tries to score a power double leg takedown but Kutuzov sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Mauck somewhat. He's landed in Kutuzov's guard. Mauck wants to control from the top but Kutuzov keeps moving. Kutuzov wants to stand and escape but Mauck is having none of it. That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. A head kick by Kutuzov misses and Mauck counters into the clinch. Nicely done. A frustrated look appears on Kutuzov's face as he tries to break the clinch. Kutuzov breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Mauck misses with a takedown attempt - Kutuzov sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. No luck for Mauck with that takedown attempt. Kutuzov throws a head kick that half lands.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Mauck has closed the distance and engaged Kutuzov in a clinch.

1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Hector Barras ! The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Yukihiro Shimada and Hirohito Nitta.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Barras shoots in looking for a takedown. Fairchild tries to sprawl out of it but Barras keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Fairchild manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Fairchild tries to counter by clinching up but Barras breaks away and moves out of range. Fairchild decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Fairchild seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Fairchild will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Barras is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Barras manages to get to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Fairchild chips away with some ground and pound.

Fairchild is aware though and is defending well. Fairchild connects with a couple of short punches. Fairchild lands a couple of digs. Fairchild postures up and lands a big shot to Barras 's brow. Barras is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Fairchild defends well. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Fairchild lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Iceberg shoots in but doesn't get the takedown letting Siberian counter with a right hand.
It looks like Tor Iceberg has been cut. Iceberg drives through with a takedown into Siberian's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Iceberg postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Iceberg definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Iceberg throws a big elbow that misses. Iceberg postures up and lands a big shot to Siberian's brow. Iceberg is looking to work some ground and pound but Siberian has wrist control. Iceberg slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Iceberg wants to pass the guard but Siberian is keeping the position.

He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A shot to the body from Heap misses and Weston counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Weston digs a good hook to Heap's body.
Heap rushes Weston and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. With the two fighters working up against the cage, Heap just misses with a elbow thrown towards Weston's brow. Weston lands a body punch. Weston avoids a wild elbow strike from Heap. Weston lands with a light punch inside. Weston holding his opponent close, against the cage.

Heap creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses. Weston tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Heap's elbow. Weston throws a punch but it's blocked by Heap. Weston lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. Heap blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Weston drops Heap onto one knee with a big uppercut from the clinch! Heap is propped up by the cage and works his way back to his feet!

Heap looks winded! Weston throws a big uppercut that drops Heap! More strikes from Weston and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Heap lies dazed against the cage as Weston celebrates with his cornermen!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Matt Weston! Matt Weston decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way. Eildon Heap spoke after the fight, saying 'I'm so handome I'm not surprised this guy was all over me!!'.
