Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jake Gunn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Syn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jake Gunn had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 207.4lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Jake Gunn looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Penn wants to pass the guard but Montecristo is keeping the position.
Penn passes easily into side control. Nice work.
An elbow from Penn crashes against the mat.

Penn has an Americana. Montecristo didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Penn is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Penn hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). DJ Penn!
