Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
19 - 12 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bruce Hardman! The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Jonathan Paton and John Kavanagh.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Voodoo Daddy shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Hardman sprawls well. Hardman wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Voodoo Daddy gets slowly back to his feet. Voodoo Daddy fails with the takedown and Hardman cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Voodoo Daddy has been working on his boxing with his coaches at The Factory in the buildup to the fight. Hardman closes the distance and pushes Voodoo Daddy back into the cage. A head punch on the inside from Hardman fails to land. Hardman tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Hardman breaks from the clinch.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Voodoo Daddy. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. That's going to take a lot out of him. Voodoo Daddy stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Hardman. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hardman throws a series of punches but Voodoo Daddy moves out of range. Hardman keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Hardman misses with the combination.
That's one minute gone in the round. A nice inside leg kick there by Hardman. That's going to slow Voodoo Daddy down. Voodoo Daddy misses with a takedown attempt and Hardman counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Voodoo Daddy thinking. Hardman swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Hardman scores to the head and body with a nice combination! Hardman tries a head kick but it misses.
Hardman throws a right and a left that Voodoo Daddy avoids nicely. Voodoo Daddy shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Hardman as he jumps to the side. Hardman pivots, looking for a leg kick but Voodoo Daddy is out of range and Hardman settles back down. Voodoo Daddy looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit. Hardman lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Hardman plants his feet and lands a nice head kick! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Hardman fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Voodoo Daddy feints and as Hardman raises his hands in defense, Voodoo Daddy changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Hardman controls Voodoo Daddy momentarily but Voodoo Daddy frees himself. Voodoo Daddy tries to free his leg and advance position but Hardman is retaining full guard. Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground! A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Hardman holds on and takes a little breather. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hardman working a defensive guard here.
Voodoo Daddy controls from within his opponent's guard. Voodoo Daddy pushes down on Hardman's leg and manages to get into half guard. Hardman is trying to maintain the position but Voodoo Daddy is very close to passing his half guard. Voodoo Daddy is looking to take a break and control but Hardman is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Hardman is doing well to control the position and prevent Voodoo Daddy from advancing to side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Voodoo Daddy seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hardman does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Hardman looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Voodoo Daddy is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Hardman doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Voodoo Daddy. Hardman is looking to improve his position.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Voodoo Daddy is looking to advance position but Hardman won't allow it. Voodoo Daddy is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Hardman defends it well. Voodoo Daddy is thwarting Hardman's attempts to control the position. Voodoo Daddy is looking to take a break and control but Hardman is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Hardman wants to control but Voodoo Daddy is keeping busy.

Voodoo Daddy is rocked! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Voodoo Daddy gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Hardman counters with a right hand from hell and Voodoo Daddy is out cold! A vicious knockout!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Atunes uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Strong. Atunes throws a big counter combination but Strong scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. Strong avoids a punch combination nicely.
Strong changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Strong closes the distance and clinches. A head punch blocked on the inside by Strong. Strong tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Strong is trying to maintain a safe position but Atunes gets an underhook and turns Strong into the cage. Strong working aggressively here.

It looks like Kale Strong has been cut. Atunes breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Atunes has taken the fight to the clinch.
Strong misses with a knee to the head. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Atunes throws a punch but it's blocked by Strong. Atunes blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Atunes has had enough of the clinch but Strong keeps him there for the moment. Strong looks more muscular than last time we saw him. I was talking to Atunes's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Strong's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Strong is pushing Atunes up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. Atunes misses with some punches.

Strong is still on wobbly legs! Can Atunes finish him? Strong walks into a straight right, dropping him to the canvas! Atunes swarms him and finishes the fight with a hail of punches! What a brutal finish!
