The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Birchmont shoots for a takedown but Brooks saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Brooks tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Brooks throws a right hand that Birchmont ducks under and follows up with a left that Birchmont also avoids with ease.
Birchmont throws a big counter combination but Brooks scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Birchmont really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Brooks misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Brooks can do anything to dispel that myth.

Brooks has his hands on Birchmont's head, controlling the position.
Brooks is looking to stand up but Birchmont isn't so interested in that idea.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
