Sagat bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Sagat takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Smith lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

That kick from Sagat tenderised Smith's leg. Smith is trying to keep his angry face on.

And Smith tries to counter it with a takedown but Sagat pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Sagat throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Smith blocks it with crossed arms.

Sagat has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.

Sagat drops his hands momentarily. Smith doesn't need a second invitation, landing a shot to the temple. Sagat staggers and falls to the mat and the ref dives in to save him from any more punishment. Sagat doesn't seem happy with the stoppage but he was done.

Pope has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.

Pope has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Uryan Hall!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Cecil Peabody and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hall is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Baker's half guard.
Baker tries to kick Hall off in order to stand up. Hall Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.

Hall tries for a kimura but Baker is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hall remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Let's hope that Hall has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hall wants to control but Baker is keeping him busy.

Hall passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Baker!
Hall takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Hall swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Baker is now in Hall's guard. A big mistake from Hall there, giving up the dominant position!

Hall has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Baker can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Hall escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Baker gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Hall is looking for a triangle here but Baker uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Hall pushes a forearm under Baker's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Baker is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
