The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Black tries to bum rush Bagatin with a series of wild strikes but Bagatin uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Bagatin darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

Bagatin has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

Bagatin gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Black to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Black is in close to Bagatin's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Black working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Black is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Black changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Bagatin tries to avoid it but Black manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Bagatin to the ground. Bagatin escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Black does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Suarez lands a left and a right that send Williams crashing to the mat, dazed. Suarez thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Williams changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Suarez throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Williams's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Suarez dives in looking to finish as Williams flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Suarez's strikes! Suarez is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Williams's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Williams was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.
