A relieved looking Alfredo Sausalito thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
Gianni Gargiullo spoke after the fight, saying 'I gotta be honest with you. I'm incredibly disappointed. 9 out of 10 times I destroy this kid. Tonight was just that 1 time. I'm disgusted with myself.'.

and Pao counters with a nice uppercut.
Lombardi tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Pao defends well and Lombardi ends up having to push Pao into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Lombardi sets himself, and Pao steps forward looking for the clinch! Lombardi avoids it this time.
Lombardi shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Pao sprawls well. Pao wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Lombardi gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tim Lombardi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Lombardi.
Lombardi shoots in for a takedown but Pao shows good takedown defense.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lombardi is trying to work for a kimura but Pao is defending well.

Pao has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Lombardi. Oh but Pao has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Lombardi goes limp - he's gone! Pao jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!

Alexander Vermeer decided to call for a title shot in his post fight interview, which was very strange given the fact this fight was for a title and he's already the champion. I guess that's what getting punched in the head does for you.
