The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mamed rushes Azhiev and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Azhiev pulls guard effortlessly.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Mamed working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Azhiev working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mamed doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mamed manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Mamed avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Azhiev isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Mamed stacks Azhiev on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Mamed!

Baker fails to land with a series of punches.
Baker connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Flame uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Baker.
Flame bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Baker's head.

It looks like Johny Baker has been cut.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Baker can do anything to dispel that myth.

A throwback to the old Pancrase there with an infrequently seen submission hold! Nice work.
