Undercard bout

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kaiden Harper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Raban (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kaiden Harper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 11 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, James Raban!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Patrick Alders and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Harper swats away the attempt to clinch by Raban.
Donk. Raban catches Harper right on the button with a cross.
Raban jabbing away but nothing is landing.
A lazy left from Harper finds it's target.
Harper tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Raban was well out of range. Poor timing from Harper.
Raban just misses with a punch to the body.
Raban scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Harper throws a right and a left that Raban avoids nicely.
Raban throws a hook but Harper blocks it.
Harper throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Raban feints the counter takedown.
Raban fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Harper is out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Raban shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Harper pinned against the cage. Harper gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Harper catches Raban with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
James Raban seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That kick from Raban tenderised Harper's leg. Harper is trying to keep his angry face on.
Harper ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Raban connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Harper misses with a hook. Raban ducked under it nicely.

and Harper counters with a nice uppercut.
Raban tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Harper lands a really nice looking cross but Raban seems unphased.
Raban tries to move into range but Harper moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

Raban changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Harper looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Harper definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Victor Ulriksen overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Ulriksen lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Ulriksen takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Ulriksen loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have The Plumber scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Ulriksen land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Ulriksen stands and salutes the crowd.
