The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Loaf.
Heim connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
A slow jab from Heim misses its intended target.
Heim lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Loaf throws a half hearted mid kick.
Heim uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
We've been hearing reports that Loaf has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Loaf takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
No joy there for Heim, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
As Heim backs away, Loaf returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
Loaf keeps the fight on the outside.
Aribert Heim seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Heim throws a series of punches but Loaf moves out of range.

Heim changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Loaf tries to avoid it but Heim manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Loaf to the ground. Loaf escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Heim has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Heim looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Heim fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Heim can't find room to land a body shot as Loaf controls the action.

Heim tries to free his leg and advance position but Loaf is retaining full guard.
Loaf might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Loaf is on top in guard.


Heim looking for a guillotine here but Loaf defends easily.
Loaf stands and throws Heim's legs to the side, diving into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Heim tries to bench press Loaf off him but Loaf keeps the position.
Heim manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Loaf stops Heim from getting back to his feet.
Loaf is thwarting Heim's attempts to control the position.
Loaf wants to pass the guard but Heim is defending well.

Heim avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Loaf.
Heim is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Meat Loaf will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Heim gets through Loaf's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Heim lands a left hand that snaps the head of Loaf backwards.
Heim tries to throw a body punch but Loaf avoids it by throwing Heim back against the cage.
Loaf lands a hook to the side of the head.

Loaf gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Heim regains guard.
Heim has his hands on Loaf's head, controlling the position.
Heim is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Loaf passes into half guard.

Loaf is keen to just control but Heim is a slippery customer.
Heim trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Loaf manages to pass to mount!
Loaf is landing with some decent strikes but Heim is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Loaf cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Loaf breaks from Heim's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Heim is rocked!
Heim is trying to escape the mount.
Heim is still in real trouble! Can Loaf finish him?
Heim wants to control but Loaf is having none of it.
Heim seems to have recovered his senses.
Loaf landing strikes from the mount and Heim is in trouble!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Loaf connects with a bit shot that sees Heim covering up! More strikes from Loaf and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Loaf is our winner by TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:24 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Meat Loaf!
