The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Thornton gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Rodriguez to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Rodriguez got a little sloppy there for a moment and Thornton has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Rodriguez has managed to get both his arms back between Thornton's legs - danger averted.

Kapena has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

Kapena stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Oh Penn is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Kapena throws a lazy right hand but Penn sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Penn seems to have got his legs back now.
Kapena cracks Penn on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Penn falls backwards against the cage. Kapena follows up with more strikes that drop Penn to his knees. Kapena keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Penn! This one is all over!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lee throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Lee throws an ugly left hook that misses
letting Cook counter with a right hand.
Cook ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Cook lands with an overhand left.
Lee swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Lee takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Lee avoids the body shot from Cook.
A jab from Cook does it's job there.
Cook tries to land a leg kick but Lee saw it coming and moves away.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Cook checks a leg kick.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Cook, as that shot connected.
A swing and a miss from Lee.
Lee fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Cook checks it well.
Cook dips to his left and cracks Lee with an uppercut!

Lee walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Cook lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Cook checks a leg kick.
Vernon Cook seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lee shoots in and drives through. Cook sprawls well.
Cook is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.

Lee doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Cook has taken the fight to the clinch.
Cook digs a right hand into Lee's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Lee's gas tank.

Cook lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Lee backwards.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Lee has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

It looks like Freddy Lee has been cut.
Cook unloads with a big right hand that wobbles Lee! He's leaning against the cage trying to keep his feet but Cook is unloading with more strikes now! Lee drops to his knees and the referee stops the fight for a TKO!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Uso feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Hernandez wants to stand up but Uso is controlling him.
Uso stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hernandez swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Uso is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Hernandez is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Hernandez has escaped and now he's on top!

Uso is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Uso wants to get back to his feet but Hernandez is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Uso has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hernandez can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Uso has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Uso looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Hernandez with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
